Carbon Canisters
Big Dog Marine’s 999CC Series carbon canisters are engineered for marine evaporative fuel systems, giving OEM boat builders a flexible, plug-and-play option for controlling fuel vapor emissions.
With 24 configurations available, Big Dog carbon canisters support a wide range of vessel and fuel-system applications, with multiple canister sizes, mounting orientations, hose barb configurations, and standard or heat-shield designs. Big Dog’s carbon canister program provides the applicable EPA and CARB regulatory support required for marine fuel-system applications.
Each Big Dog carbon canister is 100% tested for pressure leakage and flow restriction before it reaches the customer.
A Flexible Carbon Canister Platform for Boat Builders
Rather than designing a fuel system around a single canister configuration, boat builders can select the Big Dog carbon canister that fits their application.
The 999CC Series is available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, with Standard and Heat Shield configurations and Horizontal or Vertical mounting orientations. Applications can also be configured for Venting or Venting/Refueling system interfaces using standard 5/8-inch and 5/16-inch hose barb sizes.
Why Boat Builders Switch
-
Big Dog carbon canisters are designed to fit existing canister-system architectures using standard hose barb sizes. Canisters arrive fully assembled, helping simplify integration into existing marine fuel-system designs.
-
The 999CC Series has been rigorously validated for marine use, including ABYC C-2 compliance and USCG 33 CFR fire testing, along with additional durability testing.
-
Each Big Dog carbon canister is 100% tested for pressure leakage and flow restriction before it reaches the customer.
-
Big Dog designed the 999CC Series around packaging efficiency, fuel-tank capacity, and low airflow restriction. The existing product literature identifies small packaging size, high fuel-tank capacity per gram of activated carbon, and low airflow restriction as key performance advantages.
-
Big Dog's carbon canisters were engineered with system cost in mind. Efficient product design and a lean operating structure allow Big Dog to offer boat builders another carbon-canister source while maintaining the EPA/CARB protection required for the application.
-
Big Dog supports its products with in-house fuel-system expertise. The original canister literature specifically identifies a System Design Architect and 10 U.S. patents as part of that technical foundation.
How Do I Choose the Right Marine Carbon Canister?
Selecting a marine carbon canister starts with the vessel's fuel-tank capacity and fuel-system requirements. From there, boat builders can select the appropriate canister size, mounting orientation, system interface, and standard or heat-shield configuration for the application.
For the Big Dog Marine 999CC Series, selection is based on four primary choices:
Canister Size — Small, Medium or Large based on the application's fuel-tank capacity
Series — Standard or Heat Shield
Mounting Orientation — Horizontal or Vertical
System Interface — Venting or Venting/Refueling
